A creative card game inspired by Japanese karuta, designed for Olympic enthusiasts to help remember the years and hosts of the Games.
Problem
How can I help sports fans remember the year and location of each Olympic Games while also introducing them to the design movements that inspired the branding of each event? My solution is “A Journey of History”, a card game inspired by the traditional Japanese game Karuta. Through this design, players can easily recall the host city and year of every Olympics from 1896 to the present.
Challenge
Although the Summer Olympics are held every four years, many people—even sports enthusiasts—struggle to recall when and where past Games took place. The challenge was to preserve and communicate this rich history in a memorable and engaging way, using iconic symbols and visual design.
